The Domino Room, 51 Greenwood Ave, Bend, OR

Parallel 44 Presents welcomes back SoCal Jam Rock Wizards Brothers Gow w/ local shredders Maxwell Friedman Group on Saturday May The 4th (be with you) at The Domino Room. Brothers Gow closed out Bend Fall Fest in October with a bang, proving yet again that their unique and infectious blend of tightly arranged compositions and improvisational flow truly stands out on the Jam scene nationally. Advance tickets for this 21+ show are available now. Thanks to our loyal sponsors at Dr. Jolly's, The Source Weekly & Cascade Alchemy.

About Brothers Gow: Situated between deep improvisational musicianship and dynamic, original songwriting, Brothers Gow brings to the stage an imaginative style of modern rock, progressive funk and unpredictable retro-electronic jams. Through an exploration in lively and evolving sound, Brothers Gow has managed to stay true to its roots, which are found in the vibrant vocal styles and extensive range of front men Kyle Merrill (guitar/vocals) and Ethan Wade (bass/vocals). Merrill's emotional solos in tandem with skilled shredding are balanced by the avant-garde bass musings and riff writing of Wade. Brothers Gow is rounded out by wild syncopation and explosive grooves from drummer Nathan Walsh-Haines, and the exploratory and harmonic subtleties of keyboardist Alex Mello who joined the lineup in early 2018.

Though not brothers by blood, Brothers Gow is a brotherhood by time and circumstance, trials and travels, friendship and change. Member departures at the end of 2017 placed the future of the band on hold, soon followed by a major back injury sustained by Walsh-Haines that prompted the cancellation of a lengthy tour. Yet perseverance prevailed and today, Brothers Gow is prepared for a return to the road in the fall of 2018 that will take them through eight western states.

As the band re-emerges, the fragility and preciousness of doing what you love as part of a true brotherhood isn't lost on them – experience Brothers Gow live in your city and let the reinvigorated lineup take you on a captivating sonic tour.

Maxwell Friedman Group: 15-year-old Maxwell Friedman is living proof that some musicians are indeed “born with it”. At a very young age, his tasteful yet ferociously inspired keyboard playing and compositions are already becoming legendary and his skill, knowledge, taste, phrasing and artistry are already on-par with many accomplished players on the national scene who, without hesitation, call him their peer. One of the youngest players to have ever been endorsed by Hammond Organ, Maxwell has already been invited to share the stage with many musical heavy hitters such as Karl Denson, George Porter Jr., The New Mastersounds, Pigeons Playing Pink Pong, Skerik, Michael Franti, The Werks, ALO, and many more. This young wunderkind’s star is surely on the rise!

Maxwell was just 9 years old when he first discovered a dusty Hammond M3 in the corner of his piano teacher’s garage. The sensation of moving the drawbars and hearing the Leslie spinning next to him was a magical moment that changed the course of Maxwell’s life and set him on his current musical trajectory. At age 11, he met famed organist Tony Monaco and began an educational journey with Tony as his organ mentor. With the tutelage and guidance of many veteran musicians over the last few years, Maxwell quickly began developing his skills and outlook in every direction possible, and before long was composing his own 21st century standards of Jazz/Funk. At 12, Maxwell even gave a TEDX talk about how music has empowered him in all aspects of his life. Now 14, Maxwell has teamed up with other talented Jazz/Funk players in his home state of Oregon and in early 2018, he launched The Maxwell Friedman Group, featuring bassist Mark Karwan, drummer Connor Streeter and guitarist Gabe Johnson. The band delivers what Maxwell likes to call “Inspired Neo-Jazz Soul Funk Fusion” and this young man not only has shown a maturity beyond his years in leading elder musicians, but also continues to write and create like there’s no tomorrow.

Maxwell is just beginning work on his first full-length album. Many well-known artists, some of whom have already been mentioned, will be featured and some of whom will be producing tracks for the release. With the forthcoming album already garnering the interest of a variety of Jazz, Funk labels and a few majors, there’s no doubt that the sky is the limit for this burgeoning young artist. Stay tuned to see where Maxwell’s artistry spreads to next ! Oh the places he’ll go ! Maxwell is destined for greatness !
